Labor Day Prayers

 1
Gracious heavenly Father, as we pause in our country to contemplate the freedoms and opportunities that are ours to work, may we never loose sight of the fact that it is only because of your grace and favor that we are able to. We thank you, Lord, that you have blessed us with the jobs that we have had in the past and at present. May all that we do at work give glory to you and your precious name. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, whom we love and serve, and who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.

2
Heavenly Father, you are the Foreman and Giver of every duty. Teach us to go to our appointed tasks as working for you and not as mere men-pleasers. We ask you to let your Word have free course among all conditions of men that peace and good will may prevail in all places. May your grace create in us an undying faith in you, and make us willing, one and all, to render a greater service to you. Remove all discord and suspicion and dissension, all class conflict and hatred and race prejudice. Give us the necessary ability to render genuine service to you and our fellow men. Give us the grace to appreciate one another at work, and quicken our hearts with joy as we perform our daily tasks, mindful that we all are dependent upon one another in human society.

Bless all efforts peaceably to allay strife. Destroy all selfishness, greed and dishonesty. Give us the grace to respect the rights of others and give credit to whom credit is due. Above all remind us that here we build no enduring city, but are pilgrims and strangers in this world who must one day lay down our tools to appear before your judgment throne to give an account to you. May we then be found faithful stewards and live in your presence forevermore. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, whom we love and serve, and who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.

3
O God, our bountiful Provider, we give you heartfelt thanks for the work you have given us to do. Through our labors you provide for our needs and those who depend on us. May we never lose sight of the fact that whatever we do, we are doing it for you. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, whom we love and serve, and who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

4
Dear Lord, thank you for giving us strength to carry out our assigned responsibilities. We depend on you to give us a place of employment, the physical strength we need to carry out our jobs, the mental abilities we need to serve our employers and the emotional gifts we need to improve our workplace. May all we do be to your glory, you who live and reign, one God, world without end.
